School Rules & Regulations

The school rules have been established in partnership with the community over a long period of time. They reflect the school community’s expectations in terms of acceptable standards of behaviour, dress and personal presentation in the widest sense. Students are expected to follow the school rules at all times when on the school grounds, representing the school, attending a school activity or when clearly associated with the school i.e. when wearing school uniform.

Students have the responsibility:

  • To attend school regularly.
  • To respect the right of others to learn.
  • To respect their peers and teachers regardless of ethnicity, religion or gender.
  • To respect the property and equipment of the school and others.
  • To carry out reasonable instructions to the best of their ability.
  • To conduct themselves in a courteous and appropriate manner in school and in public (Avoid shouting, whistling or running inside the school building).
  • To keep the school environment and the local community free from litter.
  • To observe the uniform code of the school.
  • To read all school notices and bring them to their parents’/guardians’ attention.
  • To observe all the rules while travelling to and from the school.

For The Attention of all Parents:

  • Children should come to school on time or they will be sent home.
  • Children should not be sent to school if they are unwell, or within the quarantine period of any infectious illness. Please keep them at home till they have recovered completely.
  • The school diary has a page that must be filled in whenever a child is absent and presented to the class teacher.
  • The diary should be checked and signed everyday for any instructions that may have been given and for homework as well. Please check the Remarks pages regularly.
  • All books, text and exercise, need to be covered with brown paper as supplied. Please check your child’s exercise books regularly and sign all corrections once they have been completed.
  • If you wish to meet any teacher please write a note to the teacher concerned, to fix an appointment. Teachers cannot meet parents while they are taking a class.
  • The school will not be responsible for the loss of any expensive item that the child brings to class. These, therefore, should not be brought to school.
  • Younger children should carry a spare set of clothes (in a plastic bag) in case it becomes necessary for them to change.
  • The person who will collect the child from school must carry parent’s authority letter. The child will not be dismissed without this letter being shown to the class teachers.
  • No corrections will be made after answer scripts have been returned to the students once the marks are recorded.

School Regulations:

  • Students are expected to arrive at school on time. Latecomers will be sent home.
  • A student who is not habitually clean of properly dressed in the school uniform, will be sent back home.
  • Students must not scratch or spoil school property (the desk, write in chalk or pencil on the walls).
  • No “unauthorized” books, CDs, VCDs, mobile phones, video games, video/digital/still cameras, comics, or papers may be brought to school without the explicit permission of the Principal.
  • The School is not responsible for loss of any goods belonging to the students. They are not permitted to bring any dangerous articles such as knives, razor blades, guns, daggers, firecrackers, colours (Holi) etc.
  • No student should leave the school campus during school hours without the explicit written permission of the Principal.
  • Students will not be allowed:
  • To leave the school during the school hours unless the parents come to take the student;
  • To leave the school during working hours or lunch break, without the Principal’s permission.
  • To raise subscriptions or collect any kinds of funds,
  • To organize any picnics, excursions, tournaments or fete without the permission of the school authorities.
  • Parents are not allowed to assist their children eat their snack/lunch in school. Students must bring their snacks/lunch etc. in the morning when they come to school.
  • During school hours students may use the school phone only in case of emergency. Using the phone may be allowed only after getting written permission from the Principal. Making phone calls to bring any forgotten articles is forbidden.
  • During the activities and outings the school takes all necessary care and precaution. In spite of this if any accident or mishap occurs, the school will not be held responsible or liable for the same.
  • Out of regard for the high standard of English required for the School Certificate Examinations ENGLISH WILL BE SPOKEN AT ALL TIMES in the school premises. Indecent and abusive language will not be allowed.
  • Change of address or telephone numbers must be reported to the school authorities.
  • Unless a transfer certificate has been taken or special permission is taken by the Principal students must come to the school only in school uniform.
  • Students are not allowed to use motorized vehicles. Only bicycles can be parked inside the school campus.
  • All uniforms, text books and exercise books are to be purchased from the school only.
  • Parents are requested to leave their children at the gate and not accompany them to the building entrance. This causes unnecessary traffic congestion.
  • Students are not allowed to wear any jewellery (Gold Necklaces, Ear Rings, bangles, etc.).Girls are not allowed to put “Mehendi” or “Nail Polish” to the school.
  • A student’s hair must be kept clean and tidy at all times. The length of the hair should not be too long. The colour must be the student’s own natural colour; no dye nor highlights are allowed.

General Conduct

Students are representatives of our school from leaving home until they return and are thus expected to set themselves a high standard of behaviour both inside and outside the school.

The School Uniform and Grooming

Should be worn tidily and correctly both at school and between home and school. The full school uniform must be worn at all times. Shirts are to be tucked in; socks are to be pulled up; heel straps in place. Where a situation arises concerning a student’s uniform, written requests for temporary wearing of non-regulation items must be referred to a Dean or Deputy Headmaster.

Students are to be clean-shaven at all times while representing the school.

The following are not to be brought on to the school grounds:

  • Alcohol or drugs in any form
  • Chemicals
  • Cigarettes or tobacco
  • Knives or other weapons, including BB guns
  • Matches/lighters/explosive or dangerous material
  • Pornographic or any other offensive material
  • Cameras
  • Skateboards or scooters or similar
  • Expensive bicycles or bicycle accessories or other costly equipment

The following are strictly forbidden on school property when students are under school discipline or attending a school function:

  • Smoking and the use of alcohol or other drugs, or being in the company of those who are smoking or using alcohol or drugs.
  • Distributing of literature or any form of written matter (without the prior permission of the School management).

Cyber Safety

There are times when inappropriate use of social media is brought to our attention. Students are expected to read the School’s Cyber Safety Agreement and abide by the conditions contained in the Agreement.

Bullying

Form, verbal or physical, or any means of bullying or victimisation is strictly forbidden.

Leave Applications

Students are requested to please provide the leave application before or after taking a leave. In case of medical emergencies students are requested to submit medical certificates.

Absences

If you know your son is going to be absent for any reason please call the Attendance Office and leave a message with student’s name, form class, contact number and reason for the absence. After an absence from school a boy must bring, on the day of return, a note signed by his parents/guardian, stating the reason for the absence and takes it to the Attendance Officer. In the event of the absence exceeding 2 days, the school should be informed whilst the student is absent from school.

Lates

All students must be at school on time. Latecomers must report to the Attendance Office before going to class. The student will only be admitted to class by the teacher upon presentation of a “Late Pass” from the Attendance Officer.

All articles of clothing, shoes, books, bags and other personal property should be clearly marked with the owner’s name.

No responsibility can be accepted for unmarked property. Boys losing or finding lost property should in the first instance report to Student Services.

Damage

Of any kind must be reported immediately to the school management. In the case of wilful damage or negligence, student will be expected to contribute part or all of the cost of repair.
